Guidance Backup (Import and Export)

Purpose

Use the Guidance import/export flow to export or import guidance datasets, including associated media files.

This is useful for migrations, rollouts, and restoring instructions after changes.

Steps (export)

1. Open App > Guidance.
2. Enter the search view, then open the filter panel.
3. Open Import / Export.
4. Optional: enable Export full history to include all guidance versions.
5. Download and store the backup file securely.

Steps (import)

1. Open App > Guidance.
2. Enter the search view, then open the filter panel.
3. Open Import / Export.
4. Select Import and choose the backup file.
5. Optional: configure import options:
6. Overwrite duplicates: update matching items instead of creating parallel copies
7. Include history: import all versions instead of only the latest state
8. Confirm the import.

• An import/export modal from the Guidance filter panel.

Best practices

• Export a backup before major guidance edits or system migrations.
• Store backups according to your data/security policy.
• Restrict restore permissions to trusted roles.

Troubleshooting

• Import fails -> Backup file is invalid or incomplete -> Retry with a known-good export -> Escalate with the error message and backup timestamp
• Imported guidance looks duplicated -> Import options did not overwrite matching items -> Re-import with Overwrite duplicates if appropriate -> Escalate to an admin if you need a clean reset
