Settings

Purpose

Use Settings to configure the system for your machines, users, and workflows.

Most Settings pages are restricted to authorized roles, because changes can affect dashboards, KPIs, exports, and AI predictions for all users.

Steps

  1. Open App > Settings.
  2. Select the settings area you want to update.
  3. Make your change and select Save.
  4. Verify the expected effect in the relevant app area (for example: Dashboard, AI Predictions, Guidance, Export Data).

Menu path examples (names may vary):

  • Settings > Machines > Add machine
  • Settings > Users > Add user
  • Settings > User roles > Add role
  • Settings > Host Settings
  • Settings > SSL certificate settings > Download

What users see

Example (available settings areas depend on your role and deployment):

Settings overview showing all settings areas and the app version at the bottom

  • A list of settings areas (some may be hidden if you lack permission).
  • Your user profile at the top with Show profile and Log out.
  • Forms, toggles, tables, and import dialogs.
  • Confirmation feedback after saving.
  • The current app version shown at the bottom of the Settings page.

Best practices

  • Only change global settings if you understand the impact.
  • Coordinate changes across shifts so dashboards and KPIs remain comparable.
  • For instructions, export a backup before major edits or migrations.
  • Keep permissions limited to roles that need them.

Global vs. user-specific settings

The app typically distinguishes between:

  • User-specific settings: your own profile entry at the top of Settings and your preferred language.
  • Global settings: machine definitions, scrap/message texts, machine states, roles and permissions, AI prediction parameters, host configuration, and technical connectivity.

Global settings apply system-wide and can affect analyses and what other users see.

Guidance import and export

Guidance backup/import is not a dedicated Settings area in the current app version. Use the import/export option inside the Guidance browser instead:

Troubleshooting

  • You cannot open a settings area -> Missing permission -> Ask an admin to update your role -> Contact support if roles are unclear
  • A change does not apply after saving -> You are viewing cached data or the wrong machine/time scope -> Refresh once and re-check filters -> Escalate with the exact setting changed and timestamp
