General App Settings

Purpose

Use General App Settings to define the default application language for sessions where no user is signed in.

This does not override a signed-in user's language preference.

Steps

  1. Open Settings > General App Settings.
  2. Under Default app language, select the desired language from the dropdown.
  3. Select Save.

What users see

General App Settings screen

  • A default language dropdown.
  • A save action to persist the change.

How it works

  • The default language is used for:
  • sessions without a logged-in user
  • the initial app view before sign-in
  • Signed-in users will typically see the language defined in their user profile instead.

Best practices

  • Set the default language to the primary language of the production environment.
  • If you run kiosk devices without sign-in, treat the default language as a global operator setting.

Troubleshooting

  • The language does not change -> A user is signed in and their profile language overrides it -> Sign out and reload -> Ask an admin to confirm your profile language setting if needed
